Dave Roberts will NOT let history repeat itself. He wants to forever known as part of the ONLY team to come back in a series from 0-3 games down. The 2004 Red Socks should be the last team to ever do something like that. Dave was part of that team. So he knows exactly how this series could have gone if it had gone back to LA.. very poorly.

The haters will discredit Ohtani's lack of contributions in the World Series (despite him not being 100%) when it was his leadership and 50/50 regular season performance that even got them to the postseason. He carried the team and took the role of hitting lead off when Mookie went down, then Freddie had absences from his son to the ankle injury. This whole team has been banged up all season, but it's their resilience, how they carried each other no matter the circumstances or hurdles that came their way and still found ways to win. That's the true definition of TEAM effort. No egos, just one common goal... to win a World Series Championship.

He got on base and somehow scored a run with that catcher's interference.. He also walked and scored in the 1st inning of another game while injured. It's not like he was an instant out either. He was taking pitchers 6-8 pitches deep into counts regularly before getting out, even with the injury. That's the value of 1/3 of Shohei Ohtani.

You're totally wrong! It's the opposite in reality! It's Ohtani carried Dodgers throughout the season & postseason with his outrageous performances when all other original roasters went IL at least once & were gone for months like Betts, Muncy & all starters. Those came later or stayed a little healthier were either in slump for months or performed worst in the whole MLB hitter list. Without Ohtani, Dodgers had fallen from leader of the Division in June to August while Betts got broken hands, Freeman was in IL for child's sickness & his broken finger, & Teo was in slump for different periods. Ohtani was the only reliable hitter in lineup even when he was injured by pickup throw from May16 for over a month. Ohtani still hit, got more RBI, & scored more runs than others even when he could only perform half of what he could in other months during his leg injury fr mid-May to early June. Especially in September, after most original roasters eventually returned, Ohtani performed max & carried Dodgers through series against DB, Padres, & Rookies. Ohtani made crazy HR, hits, & RBI in those series. He literally led him to win 1st in seasonal Division while Dodgers was almost fallen out of playoff position as Dodgers actually lost more won in August. Padres and DB were strongly tracing after Dodgers.
Dodgers was only in a few games lead & could fall off playoffs without Ohtani's incredible performances to give them the wins in the 4 series. There would never be any NLDS. And Ohtani's 1st 3-run HR in 1st game of NLDS also changed Dodgers's destiny from losing the Division Series again to winning WS. Without that HR, Dodgers would've lost in G1 in NLDS, combined with losses in 2nd & 3rd, Dodgers would've lost in NLDS & certainly No 4th&5th games' wins. There wouldn't be any NLCS & WS & eventually there wouldn't be winning of another WS championship 🏆.

Dodgers have a high payroll? Sure. So do the Yankees. The difference is in the characters they signed. LAD signed Ohtani, who deferred his salary so that the club could buy pieces to form a team that support and hype each other. They have team players who are also stars without the egos.
The Yankees? I get a sense they barely know each other at best, at worst they are indifferent or skeptical. The stress comes when you feel no one is there to support you, instead they are there to judge you. I bet Soto is talking trash about Judge’s performance in the series.

If Ohtani suddenly put on a Yankees uniform and batted a 1000 with a HR each time during game 5, he still would have done a fantastic job helping the Dodgers win the World Series. That's how much he helped the Dodgers win. Just because he did next to nothing in 4 WS games doesn't discount the 162 plus post season games it took them to get there. Some baseball fans have no sense of perspective. There are people in the dodgers dugout that watched the entire 2024 season go by without playing and even they got a ring. Give Ohtani a break. Dude is Rehabbing TJ AND was fresh off a shoulder injury. He toughed it out. Some MLB players miss half the season for a hangnail. Go figure.

First of all, the reason the Yankees lost was because they relied too much on certain players and had a thin roster. The Dodgers had a deeper roster.
Secondly, many Yankees players had an "I'll decide" or "I, I, I" attitude.
All of the Dodgers players were committed to team play, saying "Let's just get on base and keep the ball going."
I think this difference in awareness of team play was also the cause of the Yankees' three consecutive errors.
This shows that a team cannot win just by using money to attract good players.

Actually the yankees were very patient at the plate and drew a lot of walks. To me the biggest factor has to be the difference in quality of pitching. The dodgers starting rotation and bullpen was better than the yankees. We all know that pitching is what wins games in October, Freddie Freeman himself said it, and it's been that way since forever.

"Let's all pretend this was an amazing achievement by the Dodgers! Yes, they had an enormous payroll and by FAR the best roster, but...let's pretend that they won because of their will and their never-say-die attitude."
Realistic take that is bad for sports talk radio and bad for baseball: Major league baseball is kind of stupid. The richest team won. That's the typical result. Even the second-highest by a mile payroll team would have had to have a lot of breaks to pull it off. Same with Padres. If the rich team screws up, someone else might win.

Big Papi had a better series hitting .688 with a 1.948 OPS.
Also Billy Hatcher had the most insane statline in modern baseball in a world series. Hitting 750 with a 2.050 OPS in the 1990 world series.
No disrespect to Freddie Freeman but Sandy Koufax had a more valuable world series performance than him and every other player, pitching 24 innings and giving up just 1 run in three starts in the 1965 world series with a 0.75 WHIP.

For all the people complaining about the Dodgers payroll and saying they brought the World Series, let me remind you that there are a core of Dodgers players (8, 9 if you want to count injured Kershaw) who were key members of the 2020 Champs. That core did not include Freeman, Teoscar, Othani or Edman. When you have a core of players and a manager used to being in a playoff atmosphere, it makes a difference. @Gman1298 And what does any of this have to do with "buying" a World Series? Any competitive sports franchise is going to do everything in their power to bring in championship level players. That includes making trades and spending money on free agents. At the end of the day, the players have to produce on the field. Dodgers are just doing what they need to do to win, and it's working. All that matters is getting that trophy.

Isn’t it peculiar when Freddie rolled his ankle and couldn’t buy a hit throughout the NLCS, guess what we heard? Absolute silence. No cries of "Oh, Freddie is a complete flop for not showing up!" Nope, instead he was serenaded with soothing whispers of empathy and understanding.
Yet here comes Ohtani, the unsung hero of game 1 of the World Series, who snagged a clutch double in the 8th inning, setting the stage for Freddie’s memorable walk-off that basically won the Dodgers the WS. And then, oh no-a shoulder dislocation in game 2, leaving Ohtani one-handed. Suddenly, a guy playing with what amounts to a mechanical arm is supposed to knock it out of the park? Well, color me amazed. Apparently, "shoulder dislocation" actually means "you must perform superhuman feats without complaint" in whatever parallel universe these causals reside.
So now, despite heroically saving the Dodgers from getting swept by the Padres with his clutch 3-run homer, having an outstanding NLCS performance with a 1.184 OPS, .364 average, .818 with RISP, leading with 9 runs, reaching the bases 17 times, and massively contributing to game 1 of the WS with his series-changing clutch double, Ohtani is now put on trial by the armchair critics, branded as a "postseason choker".
Remarkable! Who knew injuries qualify as failures when you’re not Freddie? Our dear Freddie, however, gets a lovely exemption from expectations when injured but Ohtani? Oh, spare us the details about swinging with one arm, he just needs to put on a show, right? Their logic is baffling.
